Books with movie adaptations are always somewhat risky. But considering the fact that I haven't watched this one before, I thought it would be safe to pick it up. I didn't account for the fact that I would find the plot itself dreary.
I
found myself bored with Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. The story wasn’t
terrible in itself. There was a plot and character development. There were
funny side characters and subplots. Nick and Norah’s relationship progressed
steadily and was believable enough. But something still felt missing. There
wasn’t anything extraordinary or even exciting enough to hold my attention. I
drifted from page to page but nothing truly drew me in. Maybe that was due to
the lackluster writing style; there wasn’t much flair in vocabulary or sentence
structure. I don’t mean that in terms of critically analyzing the story, but
just that the words lacked a certain grace that more experienced writers have. I
suppose it was an alright novel, but I didn’t enjoy it much. I seem to vaguely remember there being a movie based on the novel, but I didn't watch that either. Nothing seems to spark my interest with this story, but maybe I simply wasn't in the right mood for it.
